Jean-Bertrand Mwumvaneza

Jean Bertrand Mwumvaneza is a Rwandan clinical psychologist and young researcher completing an MSc in Clinical Psychology and Therapeutics at the University of Rwanda. He also completed an online six-month certificate program in neuropsychology at Emory University and a research internship in the Cogité Lab at Laval University. Over the past five years, Bertrand has worked as a junior researcher with the Mental Health and Behavior Research Group at the University of Rwanda, contributing to national and international studies on adolescent mental health, HIV, trauma, and prosocial behavior in the Great Lakes Region.

Bertrand received the Psycavi Master’s Scholarship in 2023, and he joined in September 2025 the Observatory Psycavi as a local project coordinator in Rwanda. In this role, he will support the implementation of research projects, coordinate administrative and logistical activities, oversee recruitment and supervision of research assistants, and ensure adherence to ethical standards. He will also facilitate dialogue mechanisms with clinicians, researchers, and community stakeholders; collect and document local research questions; monitor indicators at the local level; and prepare quarterly progress reports.
